As a traveler in Taipei, I often find myself torn between wanting to experience the city’s incredible food scene and making sure my toddler is comfortable. Fine dining and toddlers don’t usually mix — but I recently discovered a hidden gem that proves otherwise.

Children are welcomed!!!!!!!

I’m thrilled to share my visit to 魚貫鐵板燒 (Yuguan), an omakase restaurant that not only serves exquisite Japanese‑style courses but also warmly welcomes families with young children. Yes, you read that right: toddlers are not just tolerated here, they’re embraced!

Why This Place Stands Out ✨

  • Top‑tier ingredients: The menu features Japanese A5 wagyu beef, live lobster, live abalone, Hokkaido scallops, and other premium seasonal items. Sixteen courses in total, each beautifully prepared.

  • No raw food worries: The menu is fully cooked — perfect for families who prefer not to deal with raw fish.

  • Fair pricing for luxury: As of October 2025, the adult set menu is NT$1800 + 10% service charge (cash only).

  • Children’s menu available: For NT$1200 + 10%, kids get their own ten‑course set including wagyu beef, fried rice, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), and corn soup. Alternatively, children can share with adults at no extra charge.

  • Family‑friendly setup: High chairs (兒童椅) are provided, and kids can sit at the counter to watch the chef prepare each dish — a fun and educational experience.

  • Booking made easy: Overseas visitors can reserve via WhatsApp/Instagram, making it super convenient for travelers.

My Experience 🥢

Walking into Yuguan, I immediately felt the warmth of the staff. Unlike many fine dining spots where parents feel nervous about bringing children, here the atmosphere was welcoming. My toddler was given a high chair right at the counter, and he was fascinated watching the chef sear wagyu beef and prepare steaming bowls of soup.

The highlight for me was the lobster course — tender, sweet, and perfectly balanced.

The two‑hour dining time was just right. It allowed us to savor each dish without feeling rushed, while also keeping my toddler engaged.
